What we do
Most slow sites aren’t slow everywhere. They’re carrying a handful of very heavy things. On one football club’s shop, five banner photos made up 6.9 MB of a 9.5 MB home page. We measure on a mid-range phone on a slow connection, the way Google tests, not on the office Wi-Fi, so we fix what your customers actually experience.
That shop’s home page went from 9.5 MB to 1.8 MB, and from up to 56 seconds to under 8 to show its main content, without a redesign or a single product changed. Another site went from 4.9 MB to 2 MB and now shows its main content in about 3 seconds. We check every change side by side and on every screen size, so visitors see the same site, just faster.
Sometimes the page is fine and the server is the problem. On MyFootballFacts, a 45,000-page site, pages were taking up to 19 seconds to build under load. After tuning, the slowest took 3.8. Caching, a content delivery network and keeping aggressive bots in check all play their part.
A site that’s fast today can be slow again after the next upload. We put safeguards in place so new images are handled automatically, and so the fixes can’t quietly break something if the site changes. Tracking scripts are reviewed with you, never removed without checking what they do.
